Our History...
Our Farm
Our farm is located in the municipality of Amfipoli, at the foot of the sacred and gold-bearing Mount Pangaeo, with a total area of 54 acres of almond trees.
The company joined an investment program and thus a verticalization unit of our own production was created, with the aim of processing and standardizing the produced products. So, in addition to cultivation, we proceeded with the verticalization of our production, with the creation of new facilities: crusher, production and packaging line, construction of a cold room for storage with the aim of producing safe products for the consumer and protecting the environment.
The almonds are harvested, dried in the sun and then taken to the crusher, where almond meal is produced. It is sorted, packaged and stored in the cold room. Almonds are a good source of protein, vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, minerals and trace elements, while they contain no cholesterol. They are an easy, good and healthy option as a snack. They can be added to salads, as a breakfast to yogurt and cereals. The daily consumption of a small amount of almonds can contribute to the reduction of bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol), the prevention of cardiovascular and other degenerative diseases, the strengthening of the immune system, the regulation of blood pressure and many other functions.
A handful of unsalted raw almonds can provide many stimulating effects to the human body.

Over four decades of history
1979
The beginning
Almond grower since 1979 when, at the age of 31, Christos Melitos started growing almonds and planted the first 900 trees on an area of 33 acres in the Palaiokomi of Serres. Regarding the initial varieties these were: Texas (350 trees), Firania (350 trees), Truito (150 trees) and Retsus (50 trees).
Before 1979 he was involved in other crops (tomatoes, beets, tobacco) as well as livestock farming.
– 1988
Procedures
The harvesting process in the field is done with the "traditional" technique, i.e. manually hitting the trees with long sticks until the almonds fall. In 1988, a vibrator and a platform are purchased and the harvest clearly becomes an easier and faster affair.
2007
The "Honey Farm"
Christos together with his agronomist wife, Athanasia Pasiali, decide to deal with the processing and trade of their production themselves. This is how the family business "Agroktima Melitos" with headquarters in Paleokomi Serres is founded.
The company is part of an investment program (Ministry of Rural Development and the European Union) with the aim of building the facilities and purchasing the necessary machinery (almond crusher, refrigerator, packaging plant, etc.)

Areas and equipment
450 new trees of the Texas and Firania varieties are being added to an area of 15 acres in Mesolakkia Serres. Also, the company, following the developments of technology in agriculture, is equipped with a suspended vibrating fruit picking machine with an umbrella.
2020
41 years later
The original trees, now 41 years old, are being uprooted. The field is replanted with trees of only Texas and Firania varieties this time.
